Tom Hanks and his wife are in Australia for a shooting. Specifically, he was in Queensland when he got the virus. He was filming a biopic about Elvis Presley. The production has now stopped, and it is widely believed that Tom Hanks was infected by one of the cast or crew members of the production set.

As he is recovering, he thanked the Australians for taking care of them. In his tweets, he pleaded for people to follow the instructions of the government to stop gathering.
